AI Tutor

The AI Tutor is a conversational activity that guides learners through a topic. Learners ask questions and receive AI-generated responses, with each interaction metered against your credits.

Authoring an AI Tutor

  1. Add an AI Tutor activity to a course via Deep Linking.

  2. Configure the tutor’s framing — for example its purpose, tone, and any guidance that should shape its responses.

  3. Save and publish. See Editing Activities In Place.

The learner experience

  1. A learner launches the activity from the course.

  2. They see a working tutor page where they can submit a message.

  3. The tutor returns a response, and the exchange continues as a conversation.

Each interaction is logged, and AI usage is recorded against your workspace credits so you can review consumption later. See Usage Reports.

Tips

  • Keep the tutor’s framing focused on the learning objective so responses stay on-topic.

  • If you want answers grounded in your own materials rather than general knowledge, consider the AI Expert Chat, which draws on a knowledge base.
